Every morning, I wake up and begin plotting total world domination for myself and my clients.

I grew up in an entrepreneurial household and learned early in life that it’s not what you say that counts, it’s what you do.

I’m married to the love of my life and have been for over 36 years. We have daughters, grandkids, and now three great-grandkids. As you can imagine, there’s never a dull moment!

Since 1975, I have owned and/or played a key entrepreneurial role in building a variety of businesses, most of which did, and continue to do, remarkably well.

Selling & Copywriting

By age fifteen, my dad, one of the greatest salesmen ever, had taught me more about human nature and selling than most will learn in a lifetime.

Before I discovered copywriting, I made an excellent living for years starting and building businesses, raising capital for business projects, selling investments, selling big-ticket legal, medical, chiropractic, and financial services, and training others to do the same. During that time, I wrote sales copy for my projects, and others, that generated millions of dollars in sales.

In 1998, I met Dan Kennedy at a National Speakers Association meeting. I loved Dan’s session, and immediately bought his books and products, and subscribed to his newsletter.

Studying Dan Kennedy, I quickly learned COPYWRITING is not only a profession, copywriting is, (as advertising genius John E. Kennedy famously said), SALESMANSHIP IN PRINT.

When Dan explained that all the GREAT copywriters, were great at selling face-to-face BEFORE they became great copywriters, I was all in.  I had significant, highly successful experience selling face-to-face.  I made a great living doing it. 

The idea of graduating from face-to-face, one-to-one selling, to writing a ONE-TO-MANY  MASTER SALES LETTER that puts your best foot forward and hundreds, thousands, or hundreds-of-thousands of good prospects could receive, was a FASCINATING, to say the least.  And I love a challenge! 

Then, when Dan explained the #1 predictor of success for a writer WHO WRITES TO SELL, is being skilled at face-to-face selling and having the track record that proves it, MASTERING ONE TO MANY SELLING IN PRINT, became an all-consuming passion.

I was on fire! I read every book. Attended events. Paid a fortune to set face-to-face with and learn from some of the top copywriters in the world. I watched what felt like a million hours of video and listened to twice that much on audio, taking notes the entire time.

I studied masters. I consumed everything I could find on marketing, advertising, copywriting, and sales. I studied Dan Kennedy, Jay Abraham, Gary Halbert, Gary Bencivenga, Clayton Makepeace, David Ogilvy, Victor Schwab, Robert Collier, Claude Hopkins, John Caples, and more.

This was a tremendous education, but as John Carlton, another great among the greats in sales copywriting is fond of saying, it’s good to learn the craft, but WRITERS WRITE.

So I wrote. And wrote. And wrote. And my clients loved the ROI.  But as good as I had become at selling in print, I knew something was missing. And that’s when I met Clayton Makepeace in person.

I never depend on luck. But sometimes, you just get lucky.

I had the remarkable good fortune of meeting, getting to know, and working with Clayton Makepeace, who was one of the greatest copywriters in the history of print, and one of the most remarkable men I’ve ever known.

Clayton liked my writing enough, (raw as it was by his standards), to mentor me into the most competitive copywriting environment on earth, where only the BEST copywriters need apply, the world of financial copywriting.

Clayton hired me for one project. He liked my work. And then hired me for another. Another. Another. And more after that.

Before Clayton left us in 2020, he had pulled me into a number of projects, two of which became controls for the largest financial training company in the county. And three of which became controls for one of the biggest financial newsletter publishers in America.

Working with Clayton changed everything. His critiques were, (in a loving way), BRUTAL. And since I never make the same mistake twice, my ability to GET ATTENTION, ENGAGE EMOTION, and SELL IN PRINT, soared.
